Snapchat Doesn't Send NotificationsWhen someone sends you a new Snap, there are two main ways you can expect to receive a notification telling you that a message has been received on your device. You will either receive a “push” notification on your smartphone or mobile tablet, informing you of a new Snap, or you will receive notification from within the app itself. When using the Snapchat app, the famous ghost logo will often appear during the bar at the top of the screen, notifying you of a new message.

However, some users have found that they have stopped receiving notifications altogether, and whilst this isn’t a common problem, some users are unable to tell if they have received a new Snap, as well as never receiving other notifications from Snapchat. This article explains the steps you can take if you are not receiving notifications from Snapchat.

1. Snapchat doesn’t send notifications – what should I do?

This will depend on the device you are using to access the app. If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch For example, you will need to press the Home button to access the home screen and then click on the Settings app. Next you will need to click on Notifications. This menu includes all the settings that control which notifications you receive on your device. Find Snapchat from the menu and make sure that you are receiving notifications from the app. The process on how to do this will differ if you have an Android device, but you will be able to customize Snapchat settings from the Settings screen.

2. How to enable notifications from Snapchat

Once you have changed your notifications settings on your device, you will need to open the Snapchat app, and log into your account. Wait a few seconds for the app to load and then click on the menu button. This is located in the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. Remember that Snapchat will display whatever is in front of your camera at that given time, but you will need to try and ignore this and access the Settings panel. Once you have clicked on the menu button, click on Settings when it appears on the screen. You will need to select Notification Settings which is located in the middle of the Settings screen. You will need to click Receive Notifications on the next screen to enable notifications from the app – ideal if you want to be notified every time you receive a Snap.

3. Further problems

If you are still having problems having followed these two steps, and are finding that you are still unable to receive notifications from Snapchat, you may to delete the app and re-download it back onto your device. You will not delete your account by doing this and will still be able to log in to Snapchat like you did before. If you have an iPhone you can press and hold the Snapchat app on the home screen, click on the ‘X’, and click to confirm the deletion. You can then re-download the app from the Apple Store.
