Snapchat is one of the most popular social networking platforms around, allowing individuals to contact friends and families with a Snap – an image that is sent to their device and then deleted from the company’s servers after a short amount of time. Snapchat can be downloaded onto iOS devices, such as an iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone, as well as Android devices, and can be found in the Apple Store or Google Play Store.
The app has a loyal following and is becoming increasing popular, with the developers of the app releasing frequent updates to enhance the service and introduce new features. However, some users of Snapchat have complained about the amount of spam they have received when using the app, including weight loss spam which they don’t want to receive. This article explores how to stop Snapchat weight loss spam, and outlines the steps you can take to prevent receiving spam in the future.
How to stop Snapchat spam
One of the ways to stop spam on the Snapchat app is to customize your privacy settings. Firstly open the app from the apps section of your phone. If you have an iOS device, Snapchat should be installed on your SpringBoard. You may need to log into your Snapchat account in order to change your privacy settings. Once you have logged in and opened the app, click on the Settings icon, which is the icon with three lines.
This is situated in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen. Be careful not to be distracted by the main image on your screen as the camera on your phone is automatically opened when you use the Snapchat app. Within the Settings menu, tap on the option which reads “Receive snaps from…“. This can be found under the Privacy heading, which is green, and located in the Settings menu. The Privacy heading is located under your email address. In the “Receive snaps from…” option, choose “only my friends” option, which will restrict the messages you should be receiving. This option should limit the amount of spam that you are receiving on your device, including unwanted weight loss spam.
Other ways to stop spam on Snapchat
If you have an iPhone you can scroll down to the setting that reads “Who Can…” and then select “My Friends” from the options. This will restrict your device to only receive messages on Snapchat from people who are on your friend list, and should stop the amount of spam you may have been receiving when using Snapchat. You may also want to opt out of the Find Friends feature on Snapchat if you are worried about the amount of spam you have been receiving when using the app.
To do so, open Snapchat, log in if you are promoted to do so, and then click on the Settings option, which again is the three lines located in the bottom right-hand corner. Within the settings menu, click on the option that reads Mobile Number, and then disassociate your username from your mobile phone number. This will opt you out of the Find Friends feature and should limit the amount of spam on your device.
